Advice on wedding venue. Found another one and now confused :s How do we choose?

Original venue we liked was http://www.staugustines.uk.com/Home.php as it has a chapel so we could have a civil ceremony, wedding breakfast, chapel blessing and evening reception. The prices on the website civil wedding, wedding breakfast, drinks package, evening buffet and dining room charge. For 60 guests, saturday price is £6207 •Friday wedding – a discount of at least 16% •Sunday wedding – a discount of at least 20% •Monday to Thursday weddings – a discount of at least 33% Now i was searching some more and found this venue http://www.salmestonegrange.co.uk/index.htm and now i am really confused. I just priced everything up for a thursday wedding a friday wedding and a saturday wedding and got : Thursday: £4769 Friday: £5269 Saturday: £5894 And these all include exclusive venue hire, chapel marriage (rather than civil ceremony and blessing as the original venue), reception drinks for 60 guests, canapes, 3 course wedding breakfast for 60 guests, corkage for 12 bottles of wine with the meal and evening buffet for 80 guests. We were looking at a budget of £5000 excluding wedding dress but we do have £7000 saved. I think I prefer this one because of a chapel marriage rather than civil ceremony, and we both want to get married in a church. Help?? Which should we choose?? and the second one has accomodation on site - maybe good for getting ready into wedding dress etc

  1. According to your budget, you can make any day at any venue. It looks like you get a little extra with the second place. And you want the church wedding. Ask yourself which place is better. You seem to be saying 2nd place, than go for it
  2. "I think I prefer this one because of a chapel marriage rather than civil ceremony, and we both want to get married in a church." Here is you answer. When looking at venues, it must have what you want.
  3. It just depends what you are really looking for in your venue. What has your fiancee said. Go with the one that suits all your requirements. My daughter had about a half a dozen choices and looked at each one to see what they actually offered and she eliminated them one by one, until she chose the that had all she required and more at a reasonable price. It was where she had the ceremony and the reception at the same place. It also saved on wedding cars. Good luck.
  4. I would go with the stone cottage it has a more soft and beautiful feel to it. With the first one I fear that it being in a sense overpowering it will take away from your dress. There is a reason in a LOT of bridal magazines that the girls are in a studio and not out at a castle, ship, etc they want the focus to be on the dress and the girl not on the surrondings. That castle (though I have never been there so I can't be for sure) really has the power to take away from YOU as the bride. Instead of the eyes being on your beauty, your day, you and your groom they are going to be looking at his room, this castle, this place. So I would say go with the cottage not to mention I saw SO many places there for picture opportunities!! Plus your looking at a better price and the chapel ceremony which to me is more personal and special. Also the accomodations, IF I am not sure of your guest but I do know at my brothers wedding me and my date had to end up taking one of the brides uncles back to a hotel since he was absolutely DRUNK! So accomodations on site ,might be nice if a guest goes all out!!
