Cheap Party Dresses

Major Wedding Dress Dilemma...?

So i bought my wedding dress from Berketex a few months ago. The lady told me that day was the final day of a 20% discount offer. so i tried on loads of dresses, none of which were right...however when i tried the final one on i got a massive reaction from my friends. I liked the dress but i asked the lady if i can think about it for a couple of days but she said if i like the dress i should just get it as the discount wont be on offfer in a couple of day...so i put a deposit down. Since then i have constantly had a niggle, I dont feel like i have bought the right dress. I tried it on a month ago with veils and felt even worse about it but i didnt say anything cz everyone else around me loved it. I dont know what to do. i dont want to lose my deposit and i am hoping they can do a straight exchange if they find me a dress i love. The shop isnt open today hence why i'm asking for you guys' opinions. What do you think my options are? good one vegas jimmy...cant you read?!?!?!?!

  1. Don't waste time asking us, ask the store.
  2. if you no longer wont that dress then surely the deposit for that dress will be lost unless she is feeling nice there is a small chance she might put some of it towards a different dress . i think you will just have to wait and ask her see what she says :)
  3. Well you have one of two choices: Keep the dress or find another one. I would call the store to see if you can put the deposit toward another dress. If not you may have come up with more money to put a deposit on another dress. Just ask the store what their policy is.
  4. It depends. If your dress was ordered, you may have lost the entire amount of the sale since most wedding gowns are made to order. If it has not been ordered, you may be able to make an exchange of the deposit money. I would get on the phone right away and ask the boutique what your options are. Good luck!
  5. Congrats! I do think every bride should find the dress she loves, not the one everyone else wants her to have. That said, I would be shocked if they would refund or transfer your deposit. Here are your options if they don't. 1) Wear the dress you put a deposit on, and forever regret it when you think about your wedding or look at your pictures. Remember, these pictures will be around forever. In my mind, this isn't an option but it's your call. 2) Lose the deposit, and get a dress you really want. Considering the prices of wedding dresses and most deposits, you'd be losing $500 and up. I realize it is a decent chunk of change, but like I said earlier, you will regret not getting a dress you love. 3) Buy this dress, and buy one you really want. This happened to a friend of mine, and they wouldn't transfer or refund her deposit so she bought the dress. She didn't have it altered, and so it was really easy for her to sell. She didn't get what she paid for it, but she did get about 3/4 of the original price so she didn't lose as much as if she had just lost the deposit. Now, this requires either you having a decent sized wallet or a parent or something willing to lend you the money to buy a second dress. Think long and hard before you decide to wear the dress you don't love. All those opinions are supposed to be there to help you, not hinder your decision or make up your mind for you. They all should understand if you choose to go with a different dress. Remember, it is you and your FH's day, not theirs!
  6. Go back to the store and work things out with them.
  7. it's a dress like any other and the shop is under no obligation to take it back because you've changed your mind. Your fault for falling for hard sell tactics. if you don't like it, don't wear it. You'll have to see if the shop will take it back. BTW most wedding dresses look ridiculous anyway, keep your head clear.
  8. You will need to exercise patience and wait until the store is open to get answers to your question. Did they perhaps give you a receipt or contract that outlines the terms of the sale? Do they have a website you could visit?
  9. I think it is very weird that the shop assistant told you to get it on the day. The woman I bought my dress from held my dress for me over the weekend so I could decide even though it was 60% off. If there is a different shop assistant use them otherwise I doubt the woman is going to be much help. Chances are your deposit is a few hundred so I wouldn't like to lose it either, but if you feel so strongly as to call this a major wedding dress dilemma then maybe it would be better to lose your deposit (and go to a different store) than keep a dress you don't like if they cant exchange the deposit for another dress, which I doubt they can.
