Strapless Dresses during the Renaissance?

Were there strapless dresses during the Renaissance? I'm putting together a costume for the festival and the dress I bought is strapless. If they didn't have these sort of dresses, I can always sew sleeves onto it. I'd like to know, though before I do anything else to the costume.
