Cheap Party Dresses

Why are strapless dresses about the only style you can find when they are not flattering on most people?

You can't hardly find anything that isn't strapless unless you have it custom made. Even the rare dresses that do have straps of any kind are not flattering styles either. I've noticed it doesn't matter if it's a bridal gown or a bridesmaid dress.

  1. theres heaps of other styles if you don't want to be that traditional, why not just a slip dress or something different like it
  2. Most designers only design dresses for the very thin.
  3. maybe you aren't looking in the right places. try searching the kind of dress you want online(ie: slightly fitted halter etc.) and see if any stores near you have the dresses you would like and then go get it. Or you can just order online.
  4. just have your dress custom made
  5. It is just what is 'in' now, unfortunately. I had a dressy affair to attend recently and had one heck of time finding something that was not completely strapless to wear. I ended up with a gown with fairly thin straps and a matching jacket. You could get a strapless and a matching shawl, something like that, but I do sympathize with you.
  6. OMG I feel your pain! and if its not strappless you are covered in so much fruuu fruuu you feel and look like a parade float check out chadwicks.com and lanebryant they are great.......they have styles and sizes to fit everyone another is therosedress.com with these people order a size or two larger and hopefully you know someone who can alter it.
  7. You just have to keep looking, keep looking, keep looking, I finally found a halter style dress that suits me wonderfully.
  8. because that's what's in style:(
  9. because most designer are men.
  10. Unfortunately that's a popular style right now. But if you're short enough, you can take the extra material from an AWESOME DRESS and add it to the top and make straps. Best advice: shop around. DO NOT SETTLE and find the perfect dress. It might cost a bit more, but it's definitely worth it.
  11. You're so right! A strapless gown is probably the most demanding style to wear, and is definitely not for everybody. That said, I know someone in the Atlanta area with astonishing dressmaking skills who has made hundreds of period costumes, men's suits, and a wedding gown or two. She does this as a hobby, and so charges very little. Contact me if you'd like to know more, and I'll help if I can. Good luck!
