Why are strapless wedding dresses so popular?

This is a hypothetical question since I'm not shopping for a wedding dress but I've noticed in the past few years that 95% of the wedding dresses I see in magazines, on TV, etc. are strapless. They don't look good unless the bride is lucky enough to have a well-proportioned figure (not flat-chested but no big fat moo-cow breasts either). So whassup with the lack of originality?

1. b/c IMO it's the classiest look halters make me think of a beach and spaghetti straps just aren't quite as nice i think strapless is just really classic, beautiful and classy but that's just me
2. no idea...they are the hardest dress to pull off. I prefer halter style myself. but I think that normally people thin strapless exudes sexiness or something.
3. After almost ten years, they are finally starting to lose popularity. Lace is making a comeback and so are sleeves. Even lacey bolero jackets can transform a plain strapless dress into something more beautiful. Corset wedding dresses are very popular and so are dresses with lots and lots of ruffles. It's about time!
