where to find very elegant dresses and gowns ?

i am looking for a dress for prom either online or in a store. but i hate dresses that look "promy" i prefer something more elegant like something a celebrity would wear. do you know where i could find these types of dresses? web links would help:-) thank you

2. I hate "promy" dresses too! It's actually pretty hard to find nice dresses/gowns for cheaper prices though. They have a lot of elegant dresses that are very pretty. http://www.bluefly.com/Designer-Dresses/_/N-1ab7/list.fly?cm_re=1-_-leftnav-_-Categories You could also always go to department stores like Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Saks 5th Avenue, etc, but their clothing is probably more expensive. I would also check vintage stores or thrift stores, sometimes you can find really pretty dresses for a lot less money. Hope this helps!
